Shannon Gaye - WAVE Fave

Take one look at her photo and you'll immediately agree that Shannon Gaye is indeed a pretty picture.  But trust me, this Vancouver-based vocalist is not just another pretty face!  Her voice packs a soulful punch that defies her slender stature and porcelain skin.  Her website calls her music R&B neo-soul acid jazz. Heavy grooves. Funk. Moody vibes. I call this big mix absolutely yummy!  "Work It Out" is all groovy goodness, "The Truth About Love" is a sweet and soulful softy (without ever going sucky) and the lead-off single - "Willing and Able" - is all silky smooth jazziness with a finely funked-up edge. Shannon's middle name (Gaye) is a nod to the one and only Marvin, and she does her namesake proud.  And if it's not enough that she sings and writes, you'll find this uber-talented lady on percussion too.  With 2008 Smooth Jazz keyboardist of the year Kristian Alexandrov at the helm, Pretty Pictures paints a powerful portrait of one very cool Canadian chick.  She's doing her own thing and she is doing it very very well!
